One of the most intriguing thing today in movies, television and “talent” shows is the use of magic. When I see this, it reminds me of the story of a man called Simon who lived in the ancient city of Samaria.
Acts 8:9-13(ESV) But there was a man named Simon, who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was somebody great. They all paid attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the power of God that is called Great.” And they paid attention to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic. But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.
Simon used magic to make people think he is a great person.
God’s name is not magic nor are any miracles from the name to be used to create a name for ourselves. You cannot use God’s name as a magic tool to wow people for the purposes of personal edification or financial benefit. It’s not right to make people think that you are a broker of God’s power.
People continue using God’s name in prayers, loud preaching and general talk hoping that nobody will discover who they really are, while at the same time hoping that the name will do some magic to cover them further as they lead a lifestyle of the heathen. That’s why there are very few miracles within us.
Ephesians 5:12 (NIV) It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
Such people are rebellious to the ways of righteousness but only do things to control other people and at the same time be seen by other humans.
They lead nobody to God by doing this but to bondage because they themselves are under a bondage. Innocent seekers of God are demonised by association with these characters and before long they fall into a road to nowhere.
Romans 7:15, 17 (NIV) I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
Sin, is the evil living inside such people! That is why they are unable to control the flesh and do what they are preaching!
The best thing you can do if you are one of them is to stop “the nonsense, the noise or what you call preaching” because its not as important as living right. Unless you really know that you are nothing but an agent of evil. Cast out the evil living in you that overpower you not to do right. Get rid of the dark roots of evil associated with sexual immorality, gossip, character assassination of others, idolatry, greed, rebellion, ignorance, stupidity, pride, religion, cold love and others. You are not a servant of God with these things in you but a servant of evil irrespective of your social decoration!
1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NIV) The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
Deliverance from evil is a process and it takes time. It involves confession, repentance and a time of healing of your soul. You are drowning and this is your lifeline. Take it while you can or be ‘clever in your own way’ and end up in a life of destruction. Read more on deliverance from this site.
The increase in the network of demonised Christians
The biggest hindrance to spiritual growth is the increase and establishment of church-going-devils in the very people ‘serving’ in the church. They are everywhere planting bad seeds in innocent lives. Their main agenda is to directly or indirectly control people by converting these would be children of God to loyal followers using cult like images of trusted spiritual leaders!
Ephesians 6:12 (Living Bible Translation) For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world,….
Unclean spirits of control are common in the church circles and specializes in controlling people’s minds so that they don’t think for themselves, planting seeds of discord among people, character assassination of independent minded people, control and manipulation of families!
Matthew 13:24-25 (NIV) Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
The purity of the Gospel is undermined by this network of ‘believers’ driven by the evil living in them. They pluck out the sprouting spiritual gifts of new believers just when they are starting to bud. They mislead and give them other yokes that are hard to bear! They then teach them among other things to focus on personal edification other than glorifying their creator.
Matthew 18:6 (BSB) But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
The unspoken scale of spiritual growth of a person in this demonically controlled environment is based on a measure of some personal achievements not on the true redemption from sin. New believers are are subjected to some demonic pressure and unnecessary yokes in order to yield to this scale.
In this environment, brazen and unrepentant ‘preachers’ dance with the devil at night and in the morning impose themselves as ‘teachers’ of the word of God.
Innocent listeners to these proud workers of inequity get more into bondage by being demonized instead of growing in the purity of the love of God.
What should you do if you are a victim?
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Evil inside such persons shout to the discerning ‘don’t judge us’ . They use the scripture to stop you from exposing them. The scripture says clearly in Mathew 7:2 (NIV) For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
If you are not living in sin , why should you be afraid to judge rightly ? Why should you tolerate trash from hell? It’s surely because of naivety due to lack of knowledge. Paul was tired of such gimmicks from the devil . He wrote to the Corinthians and warned them!
1 Corinthians 5:12-13 (NIV) What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
Many honest God seeking people ‘innocently’ put up with this filth because of an erratic early spiritual-orientation in their lives that paved the way to a foundation of deception. Once deception grew and was deep rooted it bore fruits of spiritual foolishness , blindness and sheer stupidity.
You may think this is a recent development in the church but its not. It started as early as Paul’s time. Paul wrote to timothy about it.
1 Timothy 6:4-5 …they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth…
Since such people driven by the unclean spirits in them have nothing else to offer and they do not have the power of God to live a morally upright life (which is normally a hint to the discerning that they are fakes), any ‘gospel’ from them comes as a nasty thing to the world.
This type of gospel is repulsive to those who are longing for the purity associated with salvation, and their places of worship become slaughter houses to the unsuspecting and trusting new believers that are joining the body of Christ every day.
These new believers are shocked by what they encounter in the already established network of fakes in the church. Such Christians lord themselves over others feeding them with empty messages and loud prayers just to be heard by others, while creating a name for themselves. Such people to say the least, represent nothing but nonsense and a complete spiritual crap!
2 Peter 2:18 They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.
The bible is clear on how to know the fakes and how to deal with them. If you are a genuine christian, the Holy Spirit in you acts as a radar and detects all the spiritual garbage coming out of such people.
All or some of the following fruits are found among those who are not genuine Christian-believers.
Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
The bible is also clear on what you should do if you come across people who are ‘clever’ in their own eyes and lead heathen lives while claiming to live as Christians. The bible says that you keep off. You should not even eat with them.
1 Corinthians 5:9-11 (NIV) … But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
We fail to see the seriousness of the above warning. We mingle and get hurt from persons in our fellowships who carry all types of unclean spirits. We call them brethren because we are not discerning enough to see that they are pure idolaters, slanderers and in some cases when an opportunity arises, sexually immoral.
Idolatry although the most obvious to spot is usually missed. You miss it because it’s one of your desires. If you have dealt with idolatry, you will easily spot it. It comes in many forms, from personal achievements to gaining wealth. It literally oozes out of their conversations!
Idolatry in people you call Christians around you can be very subtle. It manifests in small things. They front personal financial gain, their labels and titles, their present and past positions and they use the church to hunt for business or work opportunities. People who are wealthy, those perceived to be in a certain class, those with big titles or strategic positions are treated as gods. Nothing is discussed after some preaching in such meetings other than how they are making money! They have no single fruit but a sense of a social gathering that you can get in a local social club!
If you are ever in such a meeting, run! Don’t be fooled by the glitz and glamour if there is one or by the size of the church. Run and get into a church that worships God in spirit and in truth. John 4:23 (NIV) …true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks
The only problem is that there is normally a spirit of control coming from the leadership of this type of network and it may prove hard to tear yourself away unless you are really hurt. This controlling spirit makes you feel guilty if you don’t go by their wishes.
Its scary to know that when your day comes you will really be hurt. That’s the day you will realize that you’ve been dealing with figs trees that have no fruits!
Mathew 21:18-19 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves…
Purity in the life of a Christian
If you are a genuine believer the following fruits will follow you, but be aware that the devil will try to suppress or substitute them so that they don’t benefit those around you.
These fruits are not for you only but for persons you interact with every day.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law
The bible says in Hosea 4:6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge…
God is determined to equip you for this journey as a believer. Seek knowledge widely. You should not stumble from lack of knowledge.
2 Timothy 3:12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted
Persecution brings pain and also strength. Pain will be there every now and then but for a little while, just for the few years we have here on earth. This is a rewarding pain that you are able to bare.
The bible says that there will be no pain in heaven.
Revelation 21: 3 – 4. … “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”
The process of deliverance
When we have not started or are not yet finalized with the major process of deliverance in our lives, our souls will occasionally come under great threats of pain and sorrows. We will be confused. We will fall for deception and we will make many mistakes.
This is because the unclean spirits living within us are fighting and not letting us go. You will find that after attending a good fellowship or listening to a good gospel message, sometimes evil will strike. This is normally a warning from these evil forces to discourage you from enjoying fellowship with God. What must you do? Resist them and if they are inside of you cast them out. There is a whole topic on dealing with unclean spirits in this site.
There will be many times when your soul will feel like giving up and not taking it anymore. Evil spiritual forces will bombard you on every side and your spiritual life will be erratic..
I have been there. My advice is that you fight on but make sure that you go through the complete deliverance process first. Don’t start getting involved in the deliverance ministry to others. It’s premature. I have seen this happen in many deliverance ministries where persons that are supposed to be under the deliverance process are the ones laying hands on others. This is wrong. It’s a trick from the devil to mess everything up.
Don’t compromise with evil outside or within you during this period or ever again. Once the deliverance process is complete, the attained peace is unimaginable. It’s very comforting.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives…
