LiV By Understanding Curses and The Meaning Of The Cross

Human bodies are outlived by many animals and plants. We rarely live to be a 100 years in our bodies. When it happens, we are heavily medicated and move around on walking frames and wheelchairs. This is something that has been taken as normal but it is not normal. It has its origins from two curses on human longevity.

As we celebrate Christmas, let us be aware of the redemption from all curses by the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.

I have discussed elsewhere that when humans were placed in paradise, they were meant to live in the presence of the Creator enjoying good health for many years. However, they chose to disobey and they disobeyed big! This brought a curse on them making them unable to live beyond 1000 years. The longest lived human was Methuselah who hit 969 years! A few others of his generation also lived to be over 900 years.

Humans continued to sin and their actions displeased God even further! Though as a loving Father He regretted His action, He needed to save many souls who were caught by actions of other long-living evil humans! Imagine evil dictators or fornicators living for 1000 years! Other than seven other people who were related to Noah, He wiped the rest of the earth’s population through the flood and set the human age limit to 120 years!

As if this was not bad enough, man continued to accelerate his rapid ageing through personal or ancestral curses. It is sad that we celebrate people who have made it to 100 years, an age that is only 10%  of our intended age! This is how far we have fallen!

What are curses and how do we acquire them?

Curses are dark spiritual forces, implemented by demons, that affect our quality of life here on earth and sometimes affect our destiny after the physical death!

It is important to know that that a curse is a spiritual affliction or harm that is implemented by a demon or what we call an unclean spirit! The harm may not always be clear to everyone including yourself! These harms are subtle and are accepted as normal!

We get curses by inheriting sins of our ancestors or by harvesting them from our rebellious lifestyles or from both sources!

We can trace curses from specific family sins. Sins from false religions, cults, secret societies, militias, gangs, murderers, acts of waywardness or prostitution, dark spirituality, witchcraft, and occult, among many others. All of them touch on acts of idolatry. Idolatry is an act of valuing, or worshiping anything else other than the Creator!  These sins run into the family lineage affecting children up to the fourth generation. This means that generational sins from parents can affect their children, grandchildren and the great-grandchildren if the curses are not broken.

Numbers 14:18 (NIV) The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation…

I can relate to a trail of curses that plagued my personal life that I didn’t know I had. I had heaps and heaps of all sorts of curses, inherited curses and curses I picked up through my sinful lifestyle. I put a monumental effort to try and deal with these curses but instead, I failed miserably. The forces involved were too strong to defeat! Instead I was defeated!

Your spirit must be alive, not dead to engage the devil spiritually, else, everything you study or hear ends in the brain only!

A day came when the truth hit me after a spiritual transformation and my spirit became alive! I arranged for a deliverance prayers. After a session of deliverance prayers and lots of reading, listening and watching deliverance related materials, all curses ceased to have a hold on me.

Why?

I came to know the truth and the truth set me free! Real truth is spiritual and is downloaded to our spirit by the Holy Spirit. It is not learned in class or in a bible study, that is brain knowledge! Brain knowledge cannot help when you are under temptation! The truth that helps has to have been formed in your spirit as you listen or study the word of God!

How can my spirit come alive?

This is the best question you may ever ask a delivered person!

The answer lies in the scriptures. God Has put people in strategic positions in your life that can help you to be delivered by praying with you. You have to be open to them even about your ancestral background. Such as who were your parents, grandparents or great-grandparents? What did they worship or do? What did you get from them? It could be a ring or a peace of furniture or something innocent or weird! Some people have items of idolatry. They use them as charms or good luck items. These items come as ornaments, gift items, curved images, etc Disclosing these things is part of confession!

James 5:16 (NLT) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Don’t hide anything! A deliverance prayer is not necessarily a one time event. It takes long and it is a process!

Prov 28:13 (NLT) People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

We are guilty of sin since birth and the quilt grows with you! Once you are delivered a number of things will start happening. Your spirit is set free and you get indescribable peace but the most beautiful gift that God drops on your lap is wiping your guilt! When you are bound by curses, you walk about condemned in your spirit!

The devil will try to bring guilt back to you but don’t hold it. Resist it! Once it is out of you, you can resist but before deliverance you cannot shake away guilt, it is a result of curses from sins still within you!

Romans 8:1 (NIV) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…

People say that they are in Christ because they joined a church or were told to say a prayer of repentance or were born to a church going family. When you are really in Christ, your human spirit confirms it. Its not by brain knowledge!

Going to church is OK, saying repentance prayer is a noble decision, but if you live in habitual sins then you have not been transformed yet! You need deliverance! Before I attended deliverance prayers, I was just a church goer but I had no victory in my personal life!

1 John 3:6 No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him.

How did I know that I was changed? I said earlier that the first signs were a sudden absence of condemnation. The other welcome changes were disappearance of phobias that had been part of me since childhood. I will mention a few. Fear of blood! Fear of snakes! Fear of death! Fear of other humans! Extreme shame and always embarrassed when in the presence of unfamiliar people! Extreme Shyness that I could not kick off! Doubts about my abilities in anything I did! I also had a ridiculous stressful tendency to please people! These phobias and many others, disappeared overnight! Can you imagine how I feel every time I discover that I am not struggling in a certain area because the curse was cut off and it has no hold on me?

2 Timothy1:7 (New KJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear…1 John 4:18 (NIV) …fear has to do with punishment…

The change was visibly instant. Though some habitual tendencies took time to drop off, their hold on me was already broken. I slept the previous day bound by these curses and woke up the next day a free human. My spirit was free and full of courage.

How do you think the scripture in Matthew 11:30, For my yoke is easy and my burden is light… sounded to me? Even noticing that I didn’t struggle with habitual sins like I used to and easily stopped to do what was not right, was something new. I didn’t fear other people’s condemnation either. Other humans reactions and opinions became irrelevant. What mattered was what pleased God for it lit up my spirit.

There are tens of other things that ceased to be a bother after I was set free.

Follow more narratives of personal victory in my blog posts.

God had a plan for our redemption from all curses through the eventual crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Jesus became a curse on our behalf in order to set us free from these curses. However, the  freedom cannot apply to us unless we are transformed and acknowledge His work on the cross.

The following three scriptures summarizes what we need to know about the power of the cross to claim victory over all curses.

Numbers 21:8 The LORD said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.”

John 3:14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up

Jesus became a curse on behalf of our own curses. His body was the unblemished lamb that took away the curses when he was sacrificed on the cross.

Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”

I hope you were blessed by this article and you will desperately pursue deliverance in all areas of your life!

May God bless you spiritually.
